A friendly step that many have been waiting impatiently for. Alexander Lukashenko signed another decree on citizenship admission. Thus, 319 people received protection and civil liberties with a passport of the Republic of Belarus. The Interior Ministry stressed that 290 of them were citizens of Ukraine. These are mainly people who arrived in the country from Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
Two months ago, 428 other people were granted Belarusian citizenship. Most of them were the residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Forty families, more than 100 minors. Before that 380 Ukrainians were admitted to Belarus. Since the request 3,534 Ukrainians have received the Belarusian passport.
Ukrainians who have received Belarusian citizenship are very thankful. Many of them have built families and built their lives. Belarus has become home - the very fortress in which it is safe, secure, comfortable and warm for thousands of Ukrainians who fled the war. Today, 290 more citizens of Ukraine have received the Belarusian passport.
Pavel Khrushchenovich, Deputy Head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus:
“The number of Ukrainian citizens who have an intention to acquire our citizenship is quite large. The work on the President's instruction to promptly review the materials of this category of persons continues. I would also like to note: a significant number of Ukrainian citizens who apply have the right to a simplified procedure for acquiring Belarusian citizenship, when the decision is taken at the level of regional internal affairs departments.”
"Since the beginning of implementation of the instruction of the head of state, 1,750 citizens of Ukraine have used such a right. A total of 4 300 people have acquired citizenship of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of implementation of the presidential order, of which over 3.5 thousand are the citizens of Ukraine and over 700 are citizens of other states," summed up Pavel Khrischenovich.”
In total, 319 people received Belarusian citizenship by the decree signed by the President. A native of Somalia is among them. Adam came to Belarus in 2008 to get a medical education. The move seemed risky, but in 13 years in our country he has not had a single conflict, which was the main reason for staying. He studied for a fee, looked for a job on his own.
Ukraine is so territorially close and Somalia is on a different continent. Different mentalities, different ways of life, different traditions. And Belarus is the only country that is so dear and hospitable to everyone who is coming to us in peace. The applications for citizenship keep coming in.
