24 мая 2022

We must fight for our sanctuaries. This opinion was expressed by deputy of the lower chamber of the parliament Lilia Ananich at the working group for the international parliamentary conference "Historical memory. The Great Victory Won by Unity". The large-scale event will take place on June 14-15. The experts will discuss the development and preservation of historical memory in five thematic sections. Special attention will be paid to the topic of genocide of the Belarusian people and inadmissibility of Nazism rehabilitation. Such topical issues as confrontation with new challenges and threats and protection of media space from fakes will also be raised.

Lilia Ananich, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus:

Today, the information space is like a battlefield, and on this battlefield for a great victory we must fight just as our fathers and grandfathers fought in 1941-1945. Historical memory and what is happening in the world with regard to our victory, with regard to the falsification of historical memory, is today already on the verge of war and peace. We must fight for our sacred places. Such shrine is the Great Victory of the Soviet people.

The conference will be timed to the 81st anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. Representatives of the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS member states, CSTO, the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia will take part in it.
