Students in Brest create robots that help protect Belarusian goods from counterfeiting. The identification laboratory was opened at the Technical University. Each yogurt, sour cream or cottage cheese is labelled with a unique DataMatrix code. Buyers can scan it with a cell phone and find out detailed information about the product. For example, the composition, the expiration date, brand and even the material of which the package is made. A prototype of the production line was built in the laboratory. And robots pack, scan and stack the goods themselves.
Sergey Lapich, head of the branch laboratory at Brest State Technical University:
The hardware and software complex allows us to reduce human errors in production in the first place, reduces economic costs, and allows everything to be transparent within the state system.
Alexander Bakhanovich, Principal of Brest State Technical University:
A laboratory with such a set of competencies and functions performed is the only one in the country. It solves very important state problems. And we will have six more laboratories at the university in the long term. A multidisciplinary cluster is being created on this site, which will combine mechanical engineering, robotics, IT technology, and construction.
In the near future, the laboratory's developments will be implemented in the dairy industry of Belarus.
