The main thing today is to prevent a split in society, to make changes legally and to remember that any strikes are a setback.

This opinion was expressed by Lyudmila Nizhevich. The Deputy of the House of Representatives proposes to move to the round table. Parliamentarians are waiting for initiatives from the Belarusians and are ready to discuss any controversial issues.

Lyudmila Nizhevich, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus:

“The situation that is developing in the country is alarming. I think these issues are discussed not only at work but also at home. We are really concerned about the future. It took us so long to create all this. It is simply impossible to destroy or break it. One just needs to understand that any action will have some consequences. The strikes are a setback.

And we want to move forward. I understand that the most important thing today is to prevent a split in society. We all want changes. And there will be changes because there is no other way. All changes must be done in a legal way. We, as parliamentarians, are always open. We are not only initiating it but are waiting for initiatives. I would like to see this actions on the streets to move to offices and round tables. It is simply impossible to lose the country, our sovereignty, independence, and the image that we have created for so long.”

L. Nizhevich: Where are white and red flags sold if this is not an organized event?

“This is definitely all organized. And the consequences are there. There are many people in the same social networks who have already passed all this.”

 L. Nizhevich: We were stronger when we were united

“I think we should draw the right conclusions from this. And the sooner the better. We were strong because we were united. We are strong, independent and proud of it. I want us to stay the same.”
