Ties with other territorially remote regions are also getting stronger. For example, the trade turnover between Belarus and Khakassia tripled last year. The growth trend can be traced in 2022 as well. There are many touch points. The situation in the context of the Western sanctions pression prompts us to strengthen cooperation. It is important for Khakassia to expand supplies of Belarusian equipment for the mining industry and create additional service centers.
And this is not the only area for joint work. In Khakassia now a lot of attention is paid to construction. Elevators, which are being replaced under the renovation program, are made in Belarus. The exclusive report of Marina Romanovskaya is about what else connects Minsk and Abakan.
Abakan is an important road junction in the southern Siberia. The city is located at the confluence of the Abakan and Yenisei rivers. Natural heritage and cultural wealth are closely intertwined with modern infrastructure. The distance from Minsk to the capital of Khakassia is 5 thousand kilometers. And this is the case, when distance is not an obstacle for the development of partnership relations.
Valentin Konovalov, the Head of the Republic of Khakassia, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Khakassia:
The economy of the Republic of Khakassia is quite diverse. This is metallurgy, energy, fuel and energy complex. We have a lot of interaction, there are many points for further cooperation. Indeed, it's machinery in terms of mining by our manufacturers, it is also coal mines, and our enterprises engaged in mining of ironstone.
There are also traces of Belarusian equipment in the agricultural lands of Khakassia. And this is another area for joint work. In June 2022, the Khakassian delegation is going to take part in the Belarusian Agro-industrial Week. It is also expected to visit the food and processing industry enterprises. And this is new prospects for cooperation.
Belarus is fully self-sufficient in food, we earn money on exports. Billboards with the inscription "Made in Belarus" are the reason to pop into a store. This outlet in Abakan has an abundance of sausages, cheeses, and chocolates from Belarusian producers. The grocery shelves are not empty, the customer is willing to pay for the natural composition.
Belarus and Khakassia signed a cooperation Agreement six years ago during the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. New opportunities for the implementation of economic projects appeared. And also, an occasion to get acquainted with history and culture. Scholars of the Khakassia national gymnasium have already befriended schoolchildren from Grodno. During a teleconference bridge they told about their educational establishments and held master classes to cook national dishes. They agreed on new projects.
Tourism is another promising area for cooperation.
Belarusians are still just discovering the routes in the land of the five elements. Of course, every guide will tell you that in Khakassia there is one more than is commonly believed. And to feel it, you need to climb the mountains.
Petroglyphs, ancient cave painting, menhirs, stones, and mounds standing in the prairie, monumental earth pyramids - all this can be seen in the open-air museums all year round.
Khakassia is famous for its natural monuments
The National Museum-Reserve "Kazanovka" impresses with its landscapes. The natural heritage is intertwined here with the cultural one. People come here for originality and color. To visit the mountains, go to the prairie, have a look at the landscapes from the water surface of the Yenisei River and see the Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam, the most powerful in Russia, and also, to communicate with shamans and to pass on rock-climbing routes. Khakassia attracts by its pristine nature and hospitality, which, like the Belarusians, is at the genetic level here.
