How Belarusian army changed in 365 days and what are its plans for 2023?

30 декабря 2022

The New Year is on the doorstep. Belarusians are getting ready for the holiday, while the military are still on active duty. While we raise our glasses and make wishes, the men in shoulder straps are on guard of peace in our land.

2022 was not an easy year for the army. There are no easy days in the Armed Forces at all and the outgoing year forced the military to switch to a daily combat readiness mode. The national military-industrial committee has increased the development and production of weapons in various fields. New strategic missile systems continue to be put on combat duty and Soviet-era arms are going to be upgraded. And, of course, personnel perfect their skills at training ranges day and night. Russia's special military operation to protect Donbass made everyone look at its Armed Forces from a different angle.

2022 broke in aggressively leaving Kazakhstan in turmoil. The Belarusian peacekeeping military contingent also came to the aid of its CSTO allies. Our military impeccably carried out the tasks assigned to them. I'll open the curtain, though. They went and did not know what was waiting for them, whether they would all come home safe and sound. But they performed their duty accurately and competently. And they also gained experience, which definitely gave our military the confidence in other important tasks.

The date of February 24 divided the world into before and after. The Armed Forces of Belarus redefined tasks in the shortest possible time. And the main one is to create a reliable shield on the southwestern borders. Some of the troops are moving out to the borders.

Plans for 2023 were drawn up - it is declared the Year of Combat Training in the army. But the tasks will change depending on the challenges and threats that arise. It's hard to foresee all possible outcomes of a situation in theory. Experience comes in practice. And today, our military department is carefully observing the course of combat operations in Ukraine
