How Belarus builds its international defense shield

22 ноября 2023

Belarus continues to observe the aggressive policy of Poland. The formation of new divisions near the border, the purchase of offensive weapons, the build-up of personnel and equipment on our borders. We can confidently say that every day the tone of the western neighbor becomes only more hostile.

The signal for the rupture of relations was the end of the diplomatic mission of the military attaché of Poland a year ago. The western neighbor made the decision, one could say, in one day and without explanation.

Meanwhile, Belarus continues to build strong international relations in the military sphere with dozens of countries, including world powers.

You may have noticed how the media headlines are full of news about another foreign delegation visiting Belarus.

"Defense attachés from 14 African countries have arrived in Minsk."

"Zimbabwe Defense Force delegation visits Belarus."

"A delegation from Iran met with the head of the Belarusian military department."

New realities means new partners. Fifteen-twenty years ago, Belarus had partnership relations with NATO: joint agreements, cooperation in science and education, participation in multinational operations. But there was always a criterion of distrust and covert opposition from the Western side. Over the past two years, a number of military attaches from Europe and the United States have completed their diplomatic missions in our country. Today, the dialog with the West and America has ceased, and there is silence at the other end of the wire.

Our main partner and ally, both in military and civilian affairs, is, of course, the Russian Federation. In recent years, the level of interaction has grown manifold: constant joint exercises and training, training of the Belarusian military in Russia, establishment of joint military bases, supplies of new weapons, joint air defense system and, of course, the regional grouping of troops of the Union State.

The CSTO and the CIS are organizations with which strong ties in the military sphere have been built. We will not dwell here in detail, as the work of these organizations is constantly in the public eye: meetings, joint exercises, exchange of experience. It is like a friendly circle here. The main thing is to pay attention, dive into each other's problems and build trust.

At the same time, Belarus is open for new relations and initiates dialog with all countries whose military doctrine and ideology coincide with our views. The multipolar world is built on the foundation of respect and friendship. No matter how pathetic it may sound, but today Belarus can be called an ambassador of peace. Every day from the office of the President, from all tribunes, behind which there are officials or military commanders, there is only a call for peace and life.
