Tragedy in Chenkovsky woodland
The search for remains and mass graves has been going on in the Chenkovsky Forest since last October. The execution pits are depressions in the soil layer at the depth of up to 5 m. Bone remains are found from the surface down to the maximum depth.
Alexander Shinkarev, Deputy Prosecutor of Gomel District:
As for the burials themselves, we have excavated somewhere around 50% of bone remains. We conduct a medical and forensic examination, half of them are women, the rest are mostly people of advanced age, somewhere over 65-70 years old. We also found the bones of a teenager. "Fortunately, we haven't found any children yet."
