Housing is the most relevant problem of modern Belarus. In June Belarus is going to launch a war to long-term construction, corruptions and delays of projects. Over 1 billion sqm of housing has to be built before 2015. Standard agreement types will be introduced, though there will be no possibilities for fraud. June 14 I s fixed as the date for commissioning the last long-term construction site.


Another reform pertains to courts. Common and economic courts will be unified. The new judicial system will take effect on January 1, 2014.


More order in financing will allow Belarus continuing modernization as the survival of economy depends on it. It can't bring results in one day, but there is no alternative to it. The European markets are falling, while half of our exports are supplied there. The modernization will include the programs of reconstruction, rural development, export expansion, reconstruction of roads, creation of big medical centers and new energy projects. IN November the Presidential Decree launched the construction of NPP in Ostrovets. The first Belarusian NPP means new energy and new exports. In the future it will be a new technological industry. The construction of NPP can be compared to the construction of a new town. 2013 was also the year of breakthroughs to new markets. We have discovered for ourselves the South Eastern Asia (Indonesia and Singapore) and penetrated to the Australian market. The relations with the European Union have become warmer as well. 3 important contracts on supply of farm machines, career trucks and potash were signed in Jakarta.


Singapore is interesting to Belarus as a source of financing and logistics terminal for supplies of machinery, equipment and fertilizers to the entire Asia. BelAZ trucks will be helping to excavate minerals and gold in Australia.


Following the results of Eastern Partnership in Vilnius the European and American analysts claimed that Belarus defended its right for independent and constructive position. The Eurasian economic project was modernized in 2013 during 3 summits in Astana, Minsk and Moscow. Part of the treaty will be signed in May 2014 and ratified till December. But there were good results not only in economy. The beautiful faces of Victoria Azarenko and Darya Domrcheva made happy our sport fans. Vitoria Azarenko confirmed her status of the first racket of the world and won the Australian Open for the second time in a row. Darya Domracheva won the world's Biathlon Cup in the Czech Republic. The Presidential decree of 2013 also expanded the horizons of commercial initiatives fro sport clubs and organizations. And the principal sport event in Belarus was the World Cycling Championship. Meanwhile the fans are looking forward for the World Hockey Cup 2014, which will take place in Belarus in May. New sport facility Chizhovka-Arena was opened the other day.


The National Kupala Theater was opened after 3 years of reconstruction. And the National Bolshoi Theater of Opera and Ballet celebrated its 80th anniversary. That is why it presented the national opera Prince Vitovt, which conveys the atmosphere of the 14th century.


Boris Svetlov, the Belarusian Minister of Culture: Another Belarusian city. Mogilev, was announced the cultural capital of Belarus and the entire CIS. About 300 cultural events were held in it during the year.


Belarus celebrated 1025th anniversary of the Christianization of Russia. This is a common holiday for the Russian Orthodox of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. On July 29 Minsk was the center of religious festivities.


Kirill, Ther Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia: This is a great historic event for Minsk, Moscow and Kiev. Our people preserved the purity of faith for 1025 years. The cross of St. Andrew was for the first time exhibited in Belarus with regard to this event. That is how Belarus and Belarusians saw the year 2013.
