By Inna Pilevich: Today the Moscow Cinema has hosted the opening of an exhibition by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency titled Sovereign Belarus: the Era of Achievements. 25 black and white images and 25 photographs in colour represent the country’s life today and 25 years ago. The exhibition helps trace how Belarus has evolved. Contemporary photographs illustrate the achievements in industry, agriculture, science, medicine and transport infrastructure.

An electronic version of the exhibition, consisting of nearly 200 photos, is available on BelTA’s website.

The Belarusian Republican Youth Union is also an achievement of the new Belarus. The Union’s representatives have held an open debate today to discuss the changes that have occurred in Belarusian society since the country has gained independence.

The project of the country’s largest news agency will be visiting all Belarus’ regional centres for two months. This weekend, it will be presented in Shchuchin as part of Written Language Day and on Monday the photographs depicting the country’s past and present will be exhibited in Grodno.
