Belarus commemorates the tragedy of the Great Patriotic War. On March 22, 1943, the Nazis burned Khatyn. This Belarusian village has become a symbol of unceasing sorrow all over the world. More than 9 thousand villages and settlements were destroyed in our country alone. And only a small part of them is immortalized in the cemetery of burnt villages. Today, people bring flowers to the memorial complex to remember everyone who died in the fire of Khatyn.
The night before there was a requiem meeting. The head of state and his sons took part in the memorial procession. Representatives of four confessions read the All-Belarusian prayer for peace. The full version of the event can be viewed on YouTube channel of the Agency of TV News.
The participants of the requiem rally walked along the Road of Remembrance. The Belarusian leader laid a wreath at the memorial of grief and national memory. On this evening, representatives of different generations, religious confessions and people of different views gathered to honor the memory of the innocent and protect the truth about that war. Flowers are still being brought to the place of the tragedy. The official laying ceremony is scheduled for 11 am - 3 pm.
