13 января 2017

By Dmitry Smirnov: Coming to Belarus will be easier, cheaper and more convenient for foreign tourists. Travel agencies have noted a new trend – for example, the number of tourists visiting the visa-free territory in the Grodno region has increased from a few dozen last year to nearly 3,000 people in the past two and a half months alone.

Preparations for the new visa-free tourist season are underway. Grodno cafes and restaurants are working on new menus in Polish, Lithuanian and English. New direction signs will be installed at every important historical site of the city. Besides, the summer season will see over 100 concerts, performances and festivals, many of which will take place on the Augustow Canal. Experts are creating a network of tourist routes between Grodno and the Augustow Canal.

Over the past two months, the visa-free territory has been visited by the citizens of 26 countries. The majority of the tourists are from Lithuania and Poland.

Grodno and the Augustow Canal will be available for visa-free visiting till 31 December 2017.
