They will replace the passport and give Belarusians access to many services of state structures. In a year a biometric passport for traveling abroad will appear as well. But this does not mean that it will be mandatory for everyone to receive new documents. Those documents which were issued earlier will still be valid, noted the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Alexey Begun, Head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus: "In fact, the ID card will contain all personal data of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, including an electronic digital signature that will allow a citizen to connect and work in all information resources, receive electronic services, subscribe remotely for information resources, receive the corresponding results."
