Fake information reported by Ukrainian officials was actively picked up by social media on March 11.
Allegedly, the Russian troops were going to make a series of provocations in the territory of Belarus. According to the Ukraine-led smear campaign, they are about to strike some settlements of our country and, thus, to involve them in a military operation. One of such points was allegedly the village of Kopani, Stolin district.
Kopani is located in the Stolin District in the immediate vicinity of the border with Ukraine. The border guards of the Republic of Belarus carry out service in this direction. As you can see, there is no destruction in the village. The Ministry did not confirm the information spread in social networks, calling it a fake by Ukraine.
Anton Bychkovsky, official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus:
No sounds of explosions have been recorded by the Belarusian border guards in this direction. Also, no destruction on the ground has been detected. This information is nothing more than disinformation and an attempt of the Ukrainian side to make another provocation.
The information about the missile strike at the Belarusian village was also called outright nonsense by the Ministry of Defense of our country.
Inna Gorbachova, official representative of the Defense Ministry of Belarus:
The military department says that the spreading information about the strikes at Belarus is another provocation and an attempt to destabilize the Belarusian society. In spite of the statement of Ukrainian officials and a number of telegrams channels, neither airspace control and reconnaissance facilities, nor the units of the Ministry of Emergencies in these areas confirm such information.
