The research was held in about 100 stores both in walking distance and large networks. The authors analyzed the cost of more than four dozen products, primarily milk, bread, meat, fish. Such "people's" control allowed to compare prices for goods in different areas.

Mikhail Orda, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus: "Prices vary dramatically between regions. We can also say that if the agricultural producer is doing everything to reduce the cost of production, then why it should raise prices”.

The main objective of such monitoring is to prevent unjustified price increases and exclude cases of unfair competition. The trade unions have already passed the results of the research to specialists of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. It is planned that such consultations on prices will be held every month.
