In connection with the recent explosions in the Nord Streams, many European countries will be cut off from Russia's pipelines for a long period of time. And Germany finds itself in a vassal position on supplies from across the ocean.
This is the opinion of Eugen Schmidt, a Bundestag deputy from the party "Alternative for Germany". According to him, the authorities are to blame for the situation.
Eugen Schmidt, a Bundestag deputy from the Alternative for Germany party:
Despite the fact that the pipelines have been idle for some time, there was a certain kind of political bargaining going on. Russia wanted these pipelines to be fully operated, because it had invested a lot of money and wanted, quite legitimately, to pay them off at some point. Germany was trying to leave Russia under sanctions and at the same time receive cheap energy carriers - that was the political bargaining. Now there is actually no need to bargain, that is, all of this was destroyed overnight. Germany will not receive cheap energy in the near future.
The Bundestag deputy added that Germany could find itself in the deepest economic and energy crisis.
