NATO Secretary General recognized the right of Belarus and Russia to hold military exercises on the border with Ukraine. This was announced the day before in Riga, at a meeting of foreign ministers of the alliance member-states. On December 1, they will discuss the situation in the Black Sea region with the participation of the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Georgia. As for the announced joint exercises of Belarus and Russia, the Secretary General stated that the countries must provide information about the maneuvers and avoid provocations.
However, the alliance countries do not hurry to extend these principles to their own armed forces. Recently the Kaliningrad region was actively monitored by the airplanes of the Air Forces of the USA and Germany, including reconnaissance planes. On the eve the NATO Secretary General assured that in case of necessity the alliance can deploy 40,000 military personnel in Latvia in a short period of time.
