Fighting extremism is a common task for Belarus and Russia. Prosecutors general of the two countries met today in Brest.
The topic of the meeting was countering extremist activity. The heads of agencies signed the plan of cooperation for 2023. Extremism has become one of the most complicated problems of the modern world. According to experts, additional and joint measures are needed in its elimination. Both countries have laws that prevent the spread of extremism. They also restrict destructive internet resources.
Another important aspect is the improvement of legislation in the field of combating Nazism, the preservation of historical memory and the prevention of distortion of the role of the peoples of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War. The prosecutor's office is doing a lot of work to identify victims of the Nazis. Specialists work with recently declassified archives, interview local residents, travel to burial sites and conduct excavations. Thus, if in April 2021 it was officially known about 9,200 burned villages in Belarus, now 10,215 destroyed communities are on the record.
