Another St. Sophia Cathedral to appear in Belarus

9 июня 2014
It has been announced that a new cathedral will be built on the bank of the Western Dvina River in Vitebsk. A prayer service and a religious procession have been held today at the future construction site. Permission for the construction of the St. Sophia Cathedral in the regional center was obtained last year by the Russian Orthodox Church Synod. It is known that the Vitebsk St. Sophia Cathedral will be an exact copy of its Polotsk counterpart dated back to the 11th century. The cathedral will be built the same area without any fences to be available for every parishioner.
