The policemen in German-occupied territories of the Soviet Union during WWII were involved in the burning of villages. They took part in all punitive actions, including "Kotbus" and "Kormoran". Experts and relatives of witnesses tell about this in the next episode of the joint project of the Agency of Television News and the State Security Committee "Without Statute of Limitations. The Executioners of Logoisk".
Together with the Nazis the policemen killed the civilian population. Often it was their neighbors and even relatives.
"The policemen surrounded the village, all people were killed: children, adults, old people, women, - says the historian of special services Alexei Vasiliev. - Witness Mironovich shows that houses were set on fire. A boy of about 7 years old jumped out of the house around the corner. He tried to run away. A German caught up with him at 5-6 paces, stabbed him in the chest and then burst into flames. There is specific testimony from witnesses about children being burned alive. Children were jumping out, trying to push them out. They grabbed them, threw them into the fire."
Leonida Skorobogataya, resident of Logoysk District:
"There was screaming and wailing. All who were in the village were herded to the pit and everyone was shot. One boy saw how they shot people. There was a swamp not far from there. He ran into the swamp. They were shooting at him. But maybe they didn't want to hit him, maybe they missed. The boy was destined to live."
