Economics, politics. Priorities for nation’s development

3 августа 2020
The President’s Address 2020 will be very special, and one way or another will affect the strengthening of state sovereignty. Such comments could be heard in different parts of Belarus these days. This is undoubtedly a landmark political event, it is also called a road map for the development of the state. In other words: the Address is a policy document for the country. Tomorrow the guests will be welcomed in the Palace of the Republic.

The Address defines vectors of economic development

The Address delivered in a particular year became a landmark for a certain sphere. For example, in 2001, the President focused the industrialists' attention on innovations, links between science and production, and investments. The economy needed a new breath, and goods needed competitiveness in the market. And in 2005 the program of village regeneration was launched. It was from the Address that the Belarusians once learned about agro-towns.

The Address announces global projects for the country

From the Addresses, we also learned about large-scale construction sites and global projects. For example, the Head of State announced the construction of the National Library in 2002 and the launch of the Belarusian Silicon Valley in 2004. And in 2007, the building of a nuclear power plant seemed fantastic. Today, all this is the property of the people.  The health of Belarusians has always been in the focus of the President's attention.

The Address is traditionally taken apart for quotes. One way or another, all the topics form the general picture of independent Belarus. And there is no doubt that strengthening sovereignty will be at the heart of the Address this time.
