Even in such politically difficult times, we must remember that we are all bound by history. By the way, encroachments on historical memory are often aimed at destroying ties and dividing peoples. Volunteers of the Pskov Region and Latvia, together with Belarusians worked today in Khatyn Memorial. The international squad arrived in Belarus these days to take part in the reconstruction of the complex.
The memory is alive, as long as the living remember. The events of the Great Patriotic War are the pain, which every Belarusian keeps in his heart. The Germans did not spare anyone - they killed, abused, and starved people to death. The Belarusian village of Khatyn is one of thousands of evidences of genocide. On March 22, 1943 the Germans burned this village to the ground.
For almost 8 months now, restoration has been going on here in the complex. They update the lighting and sound design, expand the museum areas.
Alexander Lukyanov, first secretary of the BRSM Central Committee:
"In total, more than 1060 young people have worked in the territory of Khatyn Memorial since the beginning of the year. I am convinced that these numbers will grow. But behind each of these figures is the conviction of young people that one of their main duties is to preserve the historical memory. "
The geography of the All-Belarusian youth construction is constantly expanding. The guys from the Pskov region and Latvia came here to touch the history. They worked here for a couple of days . They were involved on all sites, including the finishing works of the new museum. The territory is cleaned by girls, and the memorial "Cemetery of Villages" is restored by guys.
