The global COVID pandemic is gaining momentum again. The second wave of coronavirus is mainly in the European region. The past week brought the highest incidence rates there.
Ways and measures to resist infection were discussed today at the Palace of Independence. Among the participants are members of the government, heads of all regions, presidential assistants in the regions, and, of course, doctors. The President calls the health of Belarusians the main wealth. And taking care of people's lives is a priority of politics. The fact that the virus mutates and becomes more difficult to fight against is of particular concern. And this is the main reason for the closure of the Belarusian border. This measure has been in effect since November 1. The entry for foreigners is not possible from the territory of Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Russia.
Belarusian medicine has all the necessary resources to fight the pandemic. Hospitals and doctors are also provided with everything. If necessary, the nursing staff will be assisted by students of medical universities. They will receive financial rewards for their work. Aid will continue to be fully provided to all those in need. The system is debugged. The main thing is to avoid failures. People must also think about their safety where it is necessary to put on masks and maintain a distance.
Regional headquarters will be set up to monitor COVID-19 situation. Governors and presidential assistants are responsible for their work and results. The best infectious disease doctors, representatives of medical science, and other specialists will help them. A group of experts who will advise all regions will be formed and guided by head of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Medical University Igor Karpov.
