By Yulia Grizunt: Staff of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics in collaboration with scientists from the Academy of Sciences has introduced an innovative product - a miniature silicon wafer capable to detect the presence of a malignant tumor within a few minutes. It can identify virtually any type of cancer in the early stages. In addition, the silicon wafer can trace how medicines are cleared from the body and even diagnose Alzheimer's disease. Such wafers, which consist of silicon and silver nanoparticles, are already used in Russia and Italy and considered highly efficient, the researchers say.
