Monitoring of prices for socially significant groups of goods takes place throughout the country. On behalf of the President, members of the Council of the Republic and deputies of the House of Representatives monitor the price situation in their territories for the main groups of consumer goods. MART, the State Control Committee, trade unions and local executive authorities respond to violations. An unreasonable increase in prices on the eve of New Year's holidays is unacceptable.
Viktor Nikolaykin, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Housing Policy and Construction of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus: "Statistics say that prices for non-food products have increased the most for 10 months, by about 7.3%. At the same time, food prices increased by 3.5%. We probably need to look at non-food products as a whole. New Year's holidays are underway. Uscrupulous players in trade can take advantage of the increased consumer demand."
First of all, the prices for meat, milk and dairy products, pasta, fresh vegetable products are under special control.
