By Svetlana Konopatskaya: The parliamentarians ratified international agreements and adopted a number of amendments to the laws on health care, physical education and sports. Belarusian lawmakers responded to doping scandals, the demographic security in the country and the need for disease prevention.
Special attention was paid to women's health and abortion prevention. Doctors will have the legal right to cancel an abortion surgery. The age limit for female sterilization was increased to 35 years, provided that a woman has 2 children.
As for sports, the new law will clearly define anti-doping and doping control rules, the concept of disqualification and the status of the National Anti-Doping Agency as well as regulate the relations between the Sports Ministry and public organizations.
Offering the MPs to ratify the document on the Belarusian-Latvian border regime, the State Border Committee Head reported that from April 25 to May 30, 2014, Ice Hockey World Championship fans will be granted a visa-free entry to Belarus.
