The norm about the citizens taking care of their health in the draft Constitution of Belarus, submitted to a referendum, has been softened. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus Olga Chupris, reports BelTA.

A draft document on the obligation of citizens to take care of their health was presented for public discussion. "That is why after discussions at the meeting with the President of Belarus and additional discussions with the Constitutional Commission it was decided to retain the provision, but in correspondence with the provision that the state shall create conditions for health protection. Accordingly, the citizens take care of their health," said Olga Chupris.

According to her, this was done in order to consolidate the obligations of both subjects in the preservation of health. "But at the same time, the norm has been softened because people questioned its wording as an obligation, which in turn could entail liability options for non-compliance with certain rules. In order to avoid possible conflicts in the future, including with the activities of, for example, insurance companies, we decided to soften the norm. But, nevertheless, it will remain in the Constitution," said the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
