Belarus advocates a mutually respectful dialogue and at the same time categorically rejects the EU sanctions pressure. This was stated by Head of the Department of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Konstantin Chizhik at the 11th meeting of representatives of the twin-cities of Belarus and Germany at the House of Friendship on November 19, BelTA informs.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the twin-cities of Belarus and Germany continue the dialogue despite the external factors

"Unfortunately, the past two years have not been the most productive in terms of cooperation and contacts. The coronavirus pandemic, deteriorating political relations, the cessation of direct flights between Belarus and Germany due to the EU sanctions, the military conflict in Ukraine - all this did not help to expand cooperation. I would like to emphasize: Belarus is open to mutually respectful dialogue and pragmatic cooperation with our European and German partners. At the same time, we categorically rail against the political and economic sanctions pressure from the European Union," said Konstantin Chizhik.

"This is a counterproductive policy, which primarily harms the interests of ordinary citizens of our countries," he said.

"We hope that the official Berlin and Brussels will eventually come to realize it and reconsider their approach towards Belarus," continued the head of the MFA department. - "Otherwise, it will be difficult to talk about good neighborhood, as well as about regional stability and security. We expect that the dialogue and interaction in the twin cities will also contribute to this process."
