On the 32nd anniversary of the catastrophe at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, witnesses and participants of those events gathered in Ignatenko Street: the memory of people who were the first to take the blow at themselves was immortalized here. They are station personnel and firemen: Victor Kibenok, Vladimir Pravik, Nikolay Titenok, Vladimir Tishura, Nikolai Vashchuk and Vasily Ignatenko. The memory of the heroes was honored with a minute of silence.
The Chernobyl tragedy changed the fate of many Belarusians. About 2 million people suffered fr om the consequences of the accident. The territories, wh ere about 1.5 million people live now, were exposed to radioactive contamination. The state allocates means for creation of worthy conditions of their life.
