Exactly 79 years ago, the Nazis exterminated the last prisoners of the Minsk ghetto with a firing squad. In total, more than 100,000 people of Jewish nationality were murdered in the death camp. Today, of those who survived by a miracle, there are seven witnesses to the events.
Frida Reisman, former prisoner of Minsk ghetto, Chairman of Minsk charitable public association:
“Every minute anyone could have been killed. Looking at today's events, it could happen again. I'll tell you, I'm afraid to even say such things, but these are my thoughts. Here we were more afraid of the Lithuanians and the Banderites than of the Germans. And if they come, there will be none left. I am many years old now. And I feel sorry for my children and grandchildren.”
