Dmitry Smirnov: The Mayor of the Polish town of Augustow today literally sailed in Belarus to personally see the whole tourist route, and also to discuss cooperation with the Belarusian colleagues and implementation of joint projects. The plans include signing of an agreement between the mayors of Grodno and Augustów.

There are a lot of projects in terms of cross-border cooperation in particular, we are talking about the construction of two bicycle-pedestrian bridges over rivers Netta to Augustow and over the Neman, just opposite the Old Castle.

Visa-free Augustow Canal will be officially launched at the end of October 2016. However, this is the end of the current season. The greatest hope of tourist companies, organizers and guests of Belarus is associated with 2017.

The main tourism products, which are going to attract foreigners will be three water routes through Poland, Belarus and Lithuania. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Belarus opens even wider hospitality and proposes to introduce a similar visa-free regime for tourists at Braslav Lakes.
