Belarus President: No construction means no development

4 января 2022

No construction means no development of the country!  Such a statement was made by the President as he was receiving Minister Ruslan Parkhamovich and Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak with a report on the work of the building sector.

Report on construction industry development

The President was interested in the results of 2021: in less than a year the contribution of construction to GDP was almost 5%. The participants discussed the problematic issues, from export performance to long-term construction projects, as well as reducing the time frame and cost of the projects. The priority, of course, is housing construction.

R. Parkhamovich: All housing construction indicators will be fulfilled

Truly revolutionary changes will be introduced in the construction industry during the next six months. The main instruction of the President is to consider the issues of simplification in all the spheres of construction. One the issues discussed was the participation of our builders in the foreign projects. There is a demand for such highly qualified services in Russia. This opportunity should be used more actively. If necessary, the Presidents will help. By the way, Belarusians are already building social facilities in Leningrad and Tver regions, in Voronezh and Lipetsk.

"We're trying to support everybody. What does this support mean? If it was just a shoulder to lean on, that's one thing. But it's funding, support with money. And in any country there is always a shortage of money. It's exactly the same with us, even more so in this situation. So how will we act in the future? It's clear that there is an absolute priority - multi-child families, people in uniform, because they cannot earn more than we pay them.. Therefore they should be supported to some extent," remarked the President.

The head of state asked about proposals for supporting the population in housing construction. Alexander Lukashenko also asked about the work to reduce the number of uncompleted construction project. He separately dwelt on measures taken to reduce the time and the cost of construction. According to the President, this topic is under special control, it worries the citizens.

"People note in any surveys that construction is sometimes unaffordable for the population. What can we do to reduce not only the time, but also the cost of construction itself?"
