More than 900 items of low-quality goods found on the counters of stores in 2019

Baby food with nitrates, toys with formaldehyde and more. Last year, Gosstandart found more than nine hundred low-quality goods on the shelves of Belarusian stores. The blacklist extended by 73 items in December alone. 

Natalia Zhukova, deputy head of the Mogilev Regional Inspectorate of the State Standard of Belarus: "Nitrates in child nutrition are particularly dangerous because they can cause serious harm to the human body. And while in adults the harmful influence of nitrates is neutralized by enzymes, children are less resistant in this respect, and newborns have not yet developed all the enzymes".

Olga Mazheika, consultant of the State Supervision Department for Technical Regulations and Metrological Control of the State Standard of Belarus: "After identification of dangerous products in the sale, these products are prohibited for sale and withdrawn from the trade network".
