Minsk to have more than 100 ramps and lifting mechanisms

Minsk is edging closer to becoming a barrier-free area. The Belarusian capital will have more than 100 ramps and lifting mechanisms, with special focus on the residential areas where low-mobility citizens live. In addition, for the visually impaired, elevators will be equipped with special voice informants. In each district, the work on painting the handrails and lowering the street curbs is under way. An integrated approach to creating a barrier-free environment is yielding its results – at the moment, approximately 70% of the social infrastructure of the capital is partially or fully accessible to everyone. More details on the accessibility of a particular facility can be obtained on a special Internet portal.
