The Belarusian team claimed victory in the second semi-final of the Tank Biathlon at the "Army Games 2017." Today, the relay race contest was held at the Alabino training ground. 4 teams from Belarus, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Armenia took part in it. Each country was represented by 3 tank crews. Each crew was to run 4 laps (3-5 km) overcoming obstacles and engaging targets on three firing lines. From the start, the Belarusians lead the race, but then the equipment failed them. After the first round of the relay, the tank had to be replaced due to unforeseen breakdown. It cost the Belarusian crews 1.5 minutes, but they bounced back confidently. Their professionalism and well-coordinated efforts made it possible to not only make up for the time lost, but reach the finish line first.
Roman Binyukov, the Chief Judge of the Tank Biathlon Competition, Russia: "The level of training has grown very much. The guys are good, the tanks are good, besides they are using their own tanks. They performed professionally, and we are very happy for them. Of course, we are rooting for our teams more, but we wish our brothers good luck, which is quite important in this contest, too. Both the referee commission and I wish them every success."
The Belarusian team performed on the upgraded T-72B3 tanks. The tanks are equipped with a high precision Sosna-U gunner sight and a new engine with a capacity of 1,130 horsepower. After the third semi-final tomorrow, the lis of finalists will be known. The Tank biathlon finals will feature 4 teams, which showed the best time.
