On Wednesday, Belavia commented on the situation with the flight Minsk-Barcelona. The company head said it was a violation of international conventions. We remind you that yesterday afternoon the plane was not allowed into the airspace of Poland. The plane hovered near the border, made about ten circles, burning fuel, and returned to the air harbor in Minsk. There were 55 passengers on board the Embraer-195. The carrier had all the permits for the flight. The aircraft left the airport as scheduled. However, three minutes before take-off, the French aviation authorities manually deactivated the flight plan for this flight without notifying the airline. As it gained altitude, this information was passed to the commander via the Polish air traffic control. Attempts to reroute the flight during negotiations with the Marseille Air Traffic Control did not lead to a positive result.
The State Border Guard Committee of our country receives a significant number of appeals from foreigners who cannot return home. The agency has issued recommendations in this regard.
Anton Bychkovsky, official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus: The State Border Committee and the territorial border guard authorities receive a significant number of appeals from foreign nationals concerning their return to their place of permanent residence. Most of the questions have to do with the cancellation of flights by a number of air carriers and the imposition of a ban by foreign countries on flights through Belarusian airspace. We note that these matters are outside the competence of the border guard authorities.
