Belarusian parliament condemns resolution of Lithuanian Seimas

15 сентября 2020
The National Assembly has commented on the resolution of the Lithuanian Seimas of September 10, in which parliamentarians of the neighboring country declare Svetlana Tikhanovskaya the "elected leader" of Belarus. This resolution does not correspond to the good-neighborliness and parliamentary principles. The adoption of such a document is a gross interference in internal affairs and a violation of the right of the Belarusian people to determine the development of their country. Such actions are provocative, violate the norms of international law and inter-state communication, as well as the accepted parliamentary practice. The pressure on the Belarusian authorities in order to change the domestic and foreign policy of our country is unacceptable. Belarusian parliamentarians believe that inter-state relations can develop only on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs.
