Surgeons of the Minsk regional hospital have performed a new kind of partial knee replacement operation.
Orthopedic surgeon and assistant professor of medical sciences Alexander Benko explains that the simplest solution in case of severe arthrosis is complete replacement of the joint. But today, doctors choose another way: healthy tissue and bones are preserved as much as possible. Only the part of the joint, which has been greatly damaged by the disease, is replaced. The work is hard, but it is worth it.
Belarusian doctors perform such operations not only for Belarusians. These operations are a significant part of the export of medical services. The high quality surgery costs two or three times less than in Russia. The price of similar operations in Europe is much higher.
