A new multilateral process at the global level was launched. Jointly with partners from Barbados and the UNCTAD Secretariat, Belarus organized online conference "High-level discussion on harnessing inter-regional integration for the SDGs ". According to Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, the initiative is aimed at strengthening the interaction between the regions of the planet and will become a platform for cooperation between integration associations.
Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: For many years, Belarus has been promoting the "integration of integrations" initiative aimed at establishing sustainable contacts and dialogue, exchanging best practices on interaction between different integration groups. For example, a high-level conference was held in Minsk in 2016, laying the foundation for economic integration and sustainable development in the European region until 2030. Now our goal is to take this initiative from the regional to the global level.
The leitmotif of the broad dialogue is to refuse from "harmful competition" and to avoid new dividing lines in the world. It should be noted that the Belarusian initiative was supported worldwide, including by the leaders of practically all integration associations and the main economic and investment organizations of the UN system.
