Belarus among 10 states in Europe rich in forests

5 years ago Belarus joined the program to achieve 17 sustainable development goals until 2030. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly and united 193 countries. Among the important points are access to clean water, infrastructure development, and the elimination of hunger.
Belarus fully meets its food needs. So the increase in milk, potatoes, and meat products was from 6 to 12 points. Our country is one of the 15 largest exporters of dairy products and 30 leading countries in the export of meat products.
We are not lagging in medicine. For example, in the rating of countries favorable for motherhood and childbirth, Belarus ranks 25th among 179 countries. And last year, a record low infant mortality rate was recorded: 2,4 cases per thousand births. Survival of babies increased by almost 19% over the past 5 years.
Belarus has achieved gender equality in various spheres, including labor. Thus, the employment rate of the working-age population for men was 82% and almost 85% for women.
The complex for growing planting materials was opened two years ago. Here the main types of forest trees, such as pine, spruce, alder are grown for the forestry enterprises of the region, as well as ornamental plants for landscaping of the territories of settlements. The complex also collects seeds for future seedlings.
The area of   the forest fund is more than 9,5 million hectares. Belarus is one of the ten leading forest states in Europe. By the way, the conservation of ecosystems is the 15th item on the list of sustainable development goals.
The United Nations has estimated that around 800 million people worldwide lack access to drinking water. This agenda has become the sixth item on the program.
Over the past five years, more than 400 iron removal stations have appeared in the country. About 200 will be earned by the end of this year. The plans for the next five-year period include the full provision of the capital with artesian water.
Belarusians are more and more conscious of consumption.
The share of using solid municipal waste is growing every year. Over the past five years, the collection and procurement of recyclable materials have grown by almost 270 tons.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, our country ranks 5th in rye production and 11th in potato production. Belarus holds 12th place for the production of buckwheat and 14th for sugar beet.
