Minsk calls for overcoming differences in the field of disarmament. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus via video link at the Geneva Conference on Disarmament. Vladimir Makei noted that any armed conflict leads to zeroing of socio-economic achievements and human values and this is a fertile ground for organized crime and terrorism.
Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: "We have put forward initiatives to develop a multilateral political declaration on the non-deployment of intermediate and shorter-range missiles in order to fill the legal vacuum created after the termination of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles. We also propose to create a digital good-neighborliness belt , in order to reduce the risks of confrontation in cyberspace."
Vladimir Makei called the Conference on Disarmament a good platform for dialogue, but noted that it is now in crisis.
