Belarus stands for the development of the potential of the CSTO! This opinion was expressed in the Council of the Republic after talking with colleagues from the CIS. The participants in the dialogue agreed on the external pressure on our countries. The meeting of the Standing Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (on political issues and international cooperation) was held in the video conference mode. In total, almost 15 issues were considered, the most relevant of which are the latest events in our country, Nagorno-Karabakh and Kyrgyzstan. The Belarusian side stands for the creation of a full-format parliamentary dimension of the CSTO, which will use the parliamentary potential to ensure security within the countries.
Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "We believe that the CSTO organization has already become seriously stronger. We see the challenges and threats that exist and face the members of this organization. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to talk. The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly acted independently, on an independent platform and interacted with other inter-parliamentary structures, including the CIS inter-parliamentary assembly."
