Besides, it was suggested to reduce the staff of the American embassy to five people by September 1. Anatoly Glaz, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry: "Our countries have come a long way in recent years to bring diplomatic relations to a more or less acceptable level, so it is unfortunate that the insolent and openly hostile actions of the American side and its representatives that are completely outside the concept of diplomacy have destroyed the achievements of their predecessors and forced us to withdraw the previously issued consent of the Republic of Belarus to appoint J. Fisher as US ambassador to our country."
The Foreign Ministry of Belarus also strongly condemns the sanctions, introduced by the United States, the UK and Canada against our country on August 9. The official Minsk states that Western opponents are guided by the cold geopolitical calculations under the hypocritical slogans of protection of human rights and democracy. Their actions are directly aimed at undermining the sovereignty and independence of Belarus, the well-being and prosperity of the Belarusian people. The sanctions are a direct violation of the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, which prohibits the use of economic coercive measures.
