Belarus elected to UNESCO Executive Board

Belarus received the largest number of votes of all candidate countries – 171 out of 193. Permanent Representative of Belarus to UNESCO Pavel Latushko noted in an exclusive commentary to Belteleradiocompany that this result demonstrates the high prestige of the Republic of Belarus both in UNESCO itself and internationally.

Belarus has been a member of UNESCO since 1954 and has been elected to the UNESCO Executive Board for the fifth time In his speech ahead of the elections, Pavel Latushko expressed his gratitude to the Organization for the assistance provided to Belarus in the areas of preservation and promotion of the World Heritage Sites, intangible heritage, cultural diversity, and for cooperation within the framework of UNESCO’s scientific programs.
