Belarus and UAE to develop cooperation in all areas of IT sphere

7 июня 2022

The implementation of major investment projects and IT cooperation was the subject of discussion between the President and the leadership of Emaar Properties. Trustful political relations with the leadership of the Arab Emirates consistently convert into specific and useful projects.

"I am happy to meet you once again. You have become a friend of Belarus long ago. And we are always ready to welcome you in Belarus, especially since you always come with specific proposals. Today we will focus our attention on our major project, the North Bank neighborhood, which you are going to build. This is a major project. I think it is the biggest project we have ever had in Belarus," Alexander Lukashenko said.

Another topic of the meeting was cooperation in the field of IT technologies.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:

You pay a lot of attention to this sector. I know that the Emirates have advanced considerably in this field. I am grateful to you for organizing that conversation in the Emirates, when we were able to listen to the leading experts in the development of artificial intelligence. Then I realized that there is still a lot to do in this field in Belarus to reach the level you reached back then together with the specialists from different countries of the world.

Mohamed Ali Alabbar, founder of Emaar Properties:

Thank you very much for your hospitality. I would like to thank you for supporting the IT sector. What you have done is important for the world. At one time you gave a lot of attention to the Hi-Tech Park, and at the time it was just the beginning. Today we see that technology drives the entire world. If we take the entire population of Belarus and compare it to the development of IT-services which are exported, the indicator comes out higher than in many Western countries. The most important thing for the development of the IT sector is people and the quality of education. Belarus has this and it is important for the development of technology.

Belarus and the United Arab Emirates will develop cooperation in all areas of the IT sphere. A kind of cooperation roadmap has been developed with the High Tech Park. It takes into account all aspects, from investment to IT-education.

Vsevolod Yanchevsky, Director of Hi-Tech Park:

The Hi-Tech Park starts a very long and, I am sure, long history with the United Arab Emirates. This cooperation encompasses  virtually in all areas: investment and venture (investing in start-ups and established companies), and the entry of our IT products into new markets, and not only in the markets of the Emirates, and IT education.

As for the project the Arab businessman is already implementing in Minsk. Neither political nor coronavirus perturbations have cardinally affected the investor's plans. Everything is going according to "smart city" plan being built in the northern part of the capital. In the near future, the construction of an exhibition complex will begin, followed by the construction of a residential quarter and improvement of a park near the Tsnyanskoye Reservoir. In addition to the usual real estate, there will be social projects: a modern university, as well as sports facilities and health care facilities. There are also plans to build the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the Minsk International Trade Center.

Implementation of major investment projects and cooperation in IT

If representatives of big business of the Emirates are interested in projects in other spheres for example, in agriculture, given the situation with food in the world, they are ready to discuss them. The doors of Belarus are open for investments and mutually beneficial cooperation.
