Today, throughout the country, official events have begun. Traditionally, a solemn meeting with the participation of the President took place in the Palace of the Republic. Among the guests of honour were the well-known and much respected people of the country, as well as the heroes of the celebration – veterans. The Palace will also host a celebratory concert – To Love Belarus.
Security measures have been toughened up in the country. All the venues of festive events will be under the control of law enforcement agencies. 130 checkpoints will be set up on 3 July in Minsk. The venues of festivities will be inspected in advance by de-mining units. For veterans, disabled people and visitors with children separate checkpoints will be provided. Also, it is prohibited to be in public places in a state of intoxication and with cutting objects. For convenience, they will install storage rooms near the checkpoints where people can leave personal belongings. Ambulance brigades will also be working in the city during the day. Traffic police will patrol the city as well. On 3 July, several streets will be fully or partially closed down for the military vehicles to pass.
