Belarus is interested in ensuring peace in Europe, said the Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus, speaking at the X Moscow Conference on Security today. Alexander Volfovich noted that NATO continues to build up its military potential near the eastern borders, while the United States is pumping Ukraine with weapon. The West makes no secret of its interest in the conflict in Ukraine. And this only increases the degree of political tension. Belarus has repeatedly put forward various initiatives to build a new regional security architecture. Today it is simply necessary to find new approaches of cooperation in foreign policy with all the states that are ready for dialogue. It is very important to discuss the emerging issues in such international forums as the UN, the OSCE, the CSTO, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and to jointly find ways to strengthen the security of our countries.

Alexander Wolfovich, Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus:

The foreign political situation around Belarus is constantly strained, and these factors cannot but affect the security of our country. Unfortunately, the neighboring countries and their political leadership today show their inconsistency in decision-making. This is not conducive to peace in the Eastern European region. Discussing these issues, holding diplomatic meetings and resolving them peacefully is what should contribute to a dialogue of mutual understanding between our countries, first and foremost. Unfortunately, today we do not see this from our neighbors. Therefore, trust, dialogue, discussion of these issues, expressing our views will contribute to peace and security, not only in the Eastern European region, but also in the world as a whole.

The forum also discussed security issues in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The conference brought together more than 700 participants. They include defense ministers, chiefs of general staff, military delegations, representatives of the expert community from different states, and representatives of international organizations.
