The attention of the western expert community is also riveted to this momentous event in the social and political life of Belarus. In the opinion of German political scientist Alexander Sosnovsky, the annual presidential address is an important tool for establishing a broad dialogue between the civil society and the government, which, by the way, the Western countries lack.
Alexander Sosnovsky, editor-in-chief of the Internet publication World Economy, political scientist (Germany):
It is a good sign, when the head of the country addresses and directly communicates with the society. It is always positive. It is always right. There is practically no such thing in Western countries. In Germany I do not remember any communication of the leader of the country with the society. Lukashenko is developing this tradition. It gives unforgettable feelings to the society, because they see a completely different leader of their country. Secondly, they do not listen to official speeches, but listen to a man who speaks to them in person. I think there will be an opportunity to hear answers to some questions. It produces a full sense of inseparability of the leadership and society. And this is a very important factor for the stability of the country.
