These are just some of the topics our President discussed with the government today. Alexander Lukashenko called for the creation of the National Center for Personal Data Protection. The topic of electric transport was also mentioned. It was proposed to introduce additional incentives for the customers. Major investment projects were suggested. Measures to stabilize Miory Metal-Rolling Plant, where there are problems today, were supported by the head of the state.
Meeting with the government
When there are a lot of questions, the government traditionally comes with a package of proposals to the head of state. Alexander Lukashenko is ready to discuss them in spite of the fact that he has enough urgent questions. The urgent issues include everything from pandemics to price hikes. But first of all it is a response to what Belarusians are concerned about.
The President sets the task to restrain the rise in prices.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
This problem is in the top three issues of the day. There is a very important and correct question, which people raise - the correlation between the growth of prices and the income of the population. People don't care what the prices in the store will be, if only there was money in their pockets to buy goods at these prices. And these proportions and balance should be maintained at all costs, said the head of state. According to him, one should explain to people that the prices of goods and services are related to the financial condition of enterprises, which in turn affects the welfare of workers. Rising prices of some goods are primarily the well-being of the teams, producing these goods, said the Belarusian leader. If the price of a tractor rises, the tractor plant and the labor collective gets more money. But the peasants, excuse me, don't give a damn about the better living conditions of the MTZ labor collective. They are always complaining that the price of a tractor is going up. The townspeople are not interested, and they are not happy that if the price of potatoes or something else went up and the peasants got at least a small increase in their wages, and the collective and state farms, in the old fashioned way, got additional earnings. The townspeople are not interested in it and people do not think that way, explained the President. We have to explain it to people, the balance must be maintained.
The demand and prices for food is rising all over the world. Those who have their own supply will feel better. That is why the head of state does not take his eyes off the agro-industrial complex. The cold spring and the African summer heat affected the harvest. Today we are preparing the groundwork for winter and next year.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
I see that we're getting good extra millions, thousands of tons of grain, which we lack. And by the end of the year, we can reach the production of all kinds of grain over 9 million tons. Of course, this is not 10 million tons of the last year, but 9 million tons is quite an acceptable amount that will meet all the demands of our state, stressed the Belarusian leader. That is, cabbage, potatoes, beets, carrots, and other things that we put in the storage to provide for our people in the fall and winter period until the new harvest.
