A great event for every Belarusian is coming to an end in Khatyn. Today we mourn all the victims of Nazism. The Nazis destroyed 9093 settlements on Belarus land, 5295 Belarusian villages were razed to the ground. More than 2 million people were killed. More than 250 death camps and places of mass extermination operated in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.

Today, the head of state took part in Khatyn memorial procession. Alexander Lukashenko went along the road of remembrance together with the participants of the requiem rally. The symbol of the event is a small part of the Eternal Flame. It embodies our memory and unquenchable pain about our fellow countrymen whose lives were destroyed by the Nazis here, in Khatyn, and in other burned-down villages, ghettos and concentration camps. In memory of the ruined fates, pain and fear of every third Belarusian killed during the war, Alexander Lukashenko laid flowers at the monument to the Invincible Man.

The ashes of Khatyn are a symbol of the great tragedy and unceasing grief of our people. These days, on the anniversary of the tragedy, a remembrance action is taking place in Belarus.

We remember the civilians who were burned alive, strangled in gas chambers, tortured in concentration camps - victims of fascist executioners. The memory of them lives forever in our hearts. The Belarusians have suffered enough during their bloody history. We do not want and will not allow the tragedy to recur on the Belarusian land.

The sea of flowers flows endlessly to the Eternal Flame. Khatyn is a vivid testimony and a reminder that no nation can develop at the expense of the destruction and oppression of another. And even in times of global challenges, one must remember about humanity.
